About Anand
The Sanskrit word anand, which inspires the name anandconfections, refers to a state of pure joy and divine bliss. This attitude is captured in the hand-crafted, artisanal chocolate of confectioner Anand Chokkalingam.
From baking cookies as a child to constructing towering layered cakes for family and friends, Anand maintains a passion for all things sweet. He began preparing confections in 2006, and developed a repertoire originally inspired by the exotic flavors of Indian teas, herbs, and spices.
A professor by day at the University of California Berkeley, Anand draws upon his mad scientist sensibilities to explore the subtle and varied infusions of taste and character in his sweet, joyous creations.
